Q. Is there a cost benefit to my employees or me if I
buy my policy directly from the insurance company?
A. No. RBA gets paid by the insurance companies to act
as a broker. An agent at the individual insurance company will
offer you the same products, services and price that we offer.
The advantage to RBA is variety. We can review and assess the
plans from all insurance companies to find out which plan is right
for you. This service costs you nothing. The second advantage
to RBA is time. We take the hassle out of researching which plans
best meet your needs. We will outline a few options and make recommendations
based on your specific requirements.
Q. Is there a difference in price between a group and individual
health care plan?
A. Yes. Depending on the individual plan you elect, there
might be a price break if you join a group plan. If you are interested
in signing up with a group plan, please contact RBA today. We
will evaluate which member association might be right for you
and advise you appropriately.
Q. RBA is my companys plan administrator. I have
questions regarding my claim, benefits or coverage.
A. Please contact RBA directly with your specific question.
Have your insurance card handy so we can provide you accurate
information.
Q. How often am I required to make payments to my insurance
provider?
A. Each company accepts payments differently but the most
common options are monthly and quarterly. Please contact RBA about
your specific plan.
Q. Do I send payments directly to my provider or to RBA?
A. If you have an individual policy, submit your payments
directly to your insurance provider. If you are part of an associations
group plan, RBA invoices the policies. Please contact us today
to learn more about your individual insurancet plan.
Q. Am I obligated to my insurance provider for a year from
signing up?
A. No. You are entitled to terminate your policy at any
time.
Q. Do I need to take a physical in order to sign up for
medical insurance?
A. In New York State, no. A medical exam is no longer
necessary for qualification although it is still necessary for
life and disability insurance. Please contact RBA today if you
have questions regarding the law in a different state.
Q. I (or a member of my family) have a pre-existing condition.
Will this effect my ability to sign up for health insurance?
A. In New York State, no. You are entitled to health insurance
despite any pre-existing conditions. Please contact RBA today
if you have questions regarding the law in a different state.
